Meet the Herd
Our horses are partners in the work—each with a unique personality and presence.
-

Cinnamon
Breed: American Paint Horse, Mare
Age: 17
Color: Sorrel Tobiano
Cinnamon was the horse that started it all - and the reason Iron Arrow Stables became a reality. Though now in semi-retirement from her performance career - she has enjoyed a very successful performance career in multiple disciplines. She loves nothing more than winning! Cinnamon is our original resident Diva and loves a good spa day.
Cinnamon helps clients feel safe and grounded, often mirroring emotions in ways that encourage self-awareness.
-

Rooster
BREED: American Quarter Horse, Gelding
AGE: 5
COLOR: Gray
Rooster was the second horse to join our herd and is curious and full of personality. He was bred and trained for performance and he knows it! He carries himself with the confidence of an athlete but also has a goofy playful side. Rooster loves being around people and is quick to notice what is going on in his environment. He loves scratches and treats (as long as it isn’t apples!)
Rooster is great at helping clients build confidence. His alert and responsive nature reflects how our energy affects those around us, making him a powerful partner for learning about communication and self-awareness.
-

Katniss
BREED: American Quarter Horse, Mare
AGE: 3
COLOR: Bay
Katniss came to the herd in a serendipitous way - discovered when searching Rooster’s bloodlines, she is his three-quarter sister - sharing the same sire and closely related dams. From the start, she has carried the spirit of her name: brave, strong, steadfast, and deeply attuned to the emotions of those around her. Katniss is bred and will be trained to follow her brother into a performance career. Her favorite thing in the world to do is run (and pick on her brother).
Katniss’ sweet and thoughtful nature makes her one of the first to meet you in the pasture. This is especially meaningful for clients who are learning trust, patience, and resilience. Katniss’ playful spirit reminds us that healing can hold both strength and joy.
-

Hemi
BREED: American Paint Horse, Mare
AGE: 13
COLOR: Bay
Hemi is the newest member of our herd, and she embodies wisdom, strength, and quiet authority. As the only mother in the herd, she has a nurturing energy, but she is also the boss mare - firm in her boundaries and clear in her expectations with the other horses. Before joining us, Hemi had a successful career as a professional barrel horse and her offspring are sought after for performance careers. Hemi loves all things alfalfa and a good roll in the grass makes her day.
Hemi has had quite the journey in her life before coming to Iron Arrow Stables. She embodies resilience, making her an inspiring partner for those on their own journey of healing.
-

Tuffy
BREED: American Quarter Horse, Gelding
AGE: 23
COLOR: Bay
Tuffy is the elder statesman of the herd - retired from a successful show career - he is now the wise leader who keeps the herd in balance. Don’t let his age fool you - he still struts around like the champion that he is and makes sure everyone knows he’s still in charge. Tuffy’s lost his forelock years ago and it never grew back - so he now just has a little “tuff” of hair on his forehead (making his name even funnier). He loves naps in the sunshine and rolling in his favorite spot in the paddock.
In therapy, Tuffy helps client explore leadership, respect, and confidence.
How We Work with the Herd
Spending time with horses and in nature can open the door to new insights, healing, and calm. We create a welcoming space where you can slow down, connect, and explore at your own pace.
On the Ground, Together
All of our work with the herd is done from the ground—no riding required. This keeps the focus on connection and relationship rather than performance.Comfort Comes First
Your safety and comfort are always our top priorities. Closed-toe shoes are required for all sessions, and you are free to pause, step back, or simply observe at any time.Blending Office & Outdoors
Sessions may begin in the office, then move into the arena, pasture, or other outdoor space. Working both in conversation and alongside the horses allows for deeper reflection and balance. (We have an indoor arena for inclement weather!)Why Horses?
Horses notice and respond to what’s happening in the moment. Their honest, gentle feedback can help you recognize emotions, practice boundaries, and discover new ways of relating—offering clarity and growth in a way that feels natural and grounding.
🌿 No horse experience is needed—the herd meets you exactly where you are.
Secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions available.
